Paula, a 12-year-old orphan, happens to be an eyewitness to a gunfight in which a woman is killed. Since she was seen, Paula has to fear for her life. However, the girl does not dare to go to the police, because the two perpetrators have disguised themselves as policemen. When the woman's body is found on the Schwanitz shoreline, she carries nothing with her except a note with the words "Kobold No. 4." A great mystery for Hauke Jacobs and Hannah Wagner, which is not poorer in conspicuousness. The woman's name and origin cannot be determined, and apparently no one is missing her.
